The Responsible AI for SMEs short course, developed by the BRAID programme, has been created for thoughtful business leaders who want to better understand how AI is already shaping the workplace and how to approach it in a responsible, grounded way.
The course supports small and medium-sized enterprises to make informed, practical decisions about AI, helping to narrow the so-called ‘AI trust gap’ between rapidly advancing technologies and the confidence people place in them.
Spanning five accessible modules, the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) prioritises responsible judgement, equipping entrepreneurs with the insight and tools to assess whether, how and when to engage with AI, without promising shortcuts.
‘Responsible AI for SMEs’ will also address the rise of “shadow AI,” where employees use tools like ChatGPT without employer knowledge or responsible oversight. It includes insights and contributions from UK SME business owners and responsible-AI leaders across industry and civil society, bringing in real-world perspectives on both the promise and pitfalls of AI.
Rather than promoting AI use at all costs, the course supports businesses to:
- Cut through conflicting narratives around AI
- Understand where AI is already entering the workplace – including the risks of ‘Shadow AI’
- Make informed, responsible decisions about how AI fits their organisation
The course is available via both the Coursera and edX platforms. Enrol now:
