On Thursday 3 September, BRAID will open new funding opportunities to explore, challenge and shape the future of responsible AI.
Over the past three years, BRAID’s funded projects have helped to inform how we think about, develop and govern AI. Our established community of researchers, organisations and creative practitioners continue to influence policy, build responsible AI capacity across sectors, engage with public understanding of AI, and ensure that workers and underrepresented communities are included in conversations about AI.

BRAID Research Fellowships
We are looking to fund our next cohort of arts and humanities researchers to lead the development, deployment and use of responsible AI. Each fellowship will centre on a series of current challenges from across the responsible AI ecosystem and the call will include both challenge-led and academic-led opportunities.
Creative Commissions
Following the success of our Tipping Point exhibition as part of Edinburgh Art Festival in 2025, we will be commissioning a range of creative practitioners to take part in a new showcase in summer 2027.
Edinburgh Festivals Responsible AI Accessibility Challenge
This special funding call is looking for interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative, responsible AI solutions that improve the way cultural festivals support and enable deaf community participation.
We will be hosting a webinar on the Edinburgh Festivals Responsible AI Accessibility Challenge on Monday 7 September, with further information sessions for the BRAID Research Fellowships and Creative Commissions to be announced.
